2 Months as a Family!

Today is our 2nd month anniversary as a family. Even though we've only had Owen for 2 months, it seems as if Owen has been with us from birth. He's completed bonded with us and recognizes us as his Mommy and Daddy. He's an amazing kid!

At 9 months, Owen's development is pretty much on track or ahead. Our little Owen is starting to stand unsupported. He's getting bolder with his walking around the play yard, often letting go and standing for a few seconds before falling on this butt. Of course, this does not deter him from making more attempts, so he'd get up and try again. We think Owen will be walking by the time he's 10 months old.

Owen doesn't repeat consonants...but he makes up his own sounds and noises. And these souonds are so cute. Owen does talk to us though. In baby gibberish. We have no idea what he's saying, but we think he's saying, "I love you, Mommy and Daddy!" Anyhow...we think Owen doesn't repeat consonants because he's learning so many other languages along with English. Mommy and Grandma Truong speak Chinese and Vietnamese to him. While Daddy speaks English to Owen. We must be confusing him with so many different words and sounds. We're not too worried about this since Owen's cousins on his Mommy's side don't seem to have any speech problems and they grew up learning 3 different languages.

In the 2 months he's in our care, Owen has changed quite a bit. His appetite still amazes us. He loves to eat. I guess he does take after us after all. Our little boy likes to alternate between his bottle of formula and baby food, sprinkled with snack times of Gerber Graduate Puffs or his biter biscuit and water from a sippy cup.

He often falls asleep in his crib on his own. Sometimes he falls asleep taking his last bottle for the night, so all Mommy and Daddy has to do is transfer him to his crib. Often times he would sleep through the night. And when he doesn't, he would stir fora few minutes in the middle of the night and make a few noises. But very very rarely, he cries out for us.

Owen gets excited when Mommy or Daddy walks into a room. He gives us a lopsided grin that melts our hearts completely. He hasn't outgrown his cooing yet, which Mommy loves to hear anytime of the day, even at 4am when he's crying out for us in his crib which is a rare treat for us.

Owen is so curious...we should have named him George, so that we could call him Curious George. He's very good with finding things that we show him briefly and hide from his sight. It doesn't take long for him to learn tasks. After seeing Mommy play Peek-A-Boo with a blanket for about 2 or 3 times, Owen started using a blanket to play Peek-A-Boo for Mommy!

Owen loves to sit in his high chair while Mommy or Daddy does house work. He's especially good when he gets a treat while we wash dishes or swiffer the floor. Sometimes while Mommy is blogging, Owen likes to just sit quietly next to her and watch her type on the computer.

These are only a few of Owen's accomplishments in the last 2 months he's been with us. We are still in awe of the wonderful child and can't believe our luck!
